it is a HUGE collection of books (some pre 1600s) that have been scanned and are available in for viewing in pdf or html format. This site brings together in one comprehensive collection a bunch of different archival projects by universites, private collecters, etc.
Just enter the site with you name & email (you don't have register or anything) and then search it like a regular library. I would strongly advise to just hit the SUBJECT tab at the top, then you cruise down the list of sections. There are women's corsetry books, hat pattern books, art books.....well, it's a freakin library, so can imagine.
